We took our cue from Mother Nature to build a lodge ‘of the earth’, using natural materials that complement the surrounding bush environment and an open design that draws your attention outside. Décor is rich yet minimal, lighting is ambient, and African design accents subtly pick up on the Africa safari theme.
AN ALL-INCLUSIVE EXPERIENCE Accommodation is on a fully inclusive basis (includes all game viewing activities: morning and afternoon drives, walking trails, tracking big game on foot, bird watching; all meals, teas, coffees and a selection of local beverages including beers, wines and soft drinks; transfers to/ from Hoedspruit airport (for stays of 3 nights or longer). EXCLUSIVE BOOKINGS When booking the lodge exclusively, guests of all ages are welcome (normally 8 years and older), making for an ideal family safari destination. THE BOMA Situated above the banks of the non-perennial Dundee riverbed, our wooden-decked Boma is primarily used for evening dining. Situated under open African skies surrounded by the gentle flicker of lanterns, candlelight and open fire, listen closely for the far-off roar of the lion, the gentle coughing of the leopard or the hauntingly familiar call of the owl. Our boma dining is quiet and intimate and will certainly add to your Makumu experience. THE POOL Whether for a cool refreshing swim after a warm night’s sleep, or a dip to escape the hot African sun, the pool at Makumu offers it all. Built as a feature to blend in with the surrounding bushveld, don’t be surprised by the visiting elephant herds that are known to quench their thirst here during the hot midday temperatures!
The Nambu property has been in the Drinkwater family for almost 40 years, passed down through the generations. The name Nambu means ‘river’ in the local language of IsiThonga, and this unique lodge has many ties to the flowing waters of the Olifants River nearby. Tawny eagles soar above and herds of elephants drink down below our hilltop lodge.
Kruger Phuti Camp has a charming and private location that makes you feel completely one with nature. Here you live close to a waterhole with daily visits from the South African wildlife. The lodge is nicely hidden in the very heart of the African bush. At Kruger Phuti Camp you find 5 charming chalets.
When booking the entire camp, you have the option of being self-catering or book your stay with your own chef, maid and full safari excursions. The five chalets has a total capacity of 10 adults and five children.
Here you can expect a sophisticated interpretation of the traditional African safari lodge, with light and bright contemporary décor. The lodge's style has a sense of brightness and space. Wooden walkways lead off to a spa, gym, and pool, and back to the main lodge, where the deck’s connected water features give the impression of floating on the river.
The lodge’s exclusive accommodations are set apart on a high bank up from the Sabie River. Your Suite is private with its own plunge pool and deck overlooking the water and makes the most of a view that often sees wildlife passing through. From the Suites, elevated wooden pathways lead off to a spa sala and the main lodge – with its bar lounge, library, poolside and boma offering spaces to share good company or spend some quiet moments on your own.
Experience a Kruger Safari at nThambo Tree Camp and stay in unique accommodation in the heart of the Klaserie. The Klaserie Private Nature Reserve is part of the Greater Kruger and shares unfenced borders with the Kruger National Park. It is here that guests can take part in Big Five game drive safaris.
