Braai Safaris is a small and intimate private company, owned and run by Marta and Wiann De Lange, who provide a typical and true wildlife experience, not only giving their guests a unique experience but also sharing their passion for this wonderful wild environment.

Braai Safaris Lodge is located inside the private and secure Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate, in the town of Hoedspruit, South Africa.

Perfectly situated between the Kruger National Park and the Blyde River Canyon, which is a beautiful and conserved part of the Lowveld bush, the Wildlife Estate hosts great birdlife and plains game such as: zebras, giraffes, kudus, warthogs and impalas just to name a few, but also with some occasional visits from leopards, hyenas and nocturnal animals from the surrounding Greater Kruger National Park.

Braai Safaris was established as an idea to combine the experience of a Braai and a Safari together to recreate our tradition.

Braai is a word derived from the Afrikaans language referring to the rustic method of cooking meat on an open fire (barbeque).

The tradition is so important to us that many choose to celebrate our annual Heritage Day celebrations on 24th September united around a fire –  also affectionately called ‘National Braai Day ‘ (Heritage Day)

YOUR HOSTS: MARTA & WIANN DE LANGE

Marta is of Italian origin, and Wiann is of South African origin. They have been working and living together for more than 10 years. They learned about the bush and expanded their knowledge together.

In their respective areas they have been gaining experience in South Africa’s best Big 5 reserves, including the Timbavati and Klaserie Private Nature Reserves, as well as the world famous Kruger National Park. Wiann is a registered nature guide and Martha has been operating Front-of-House and Customer Reception for lodges within the famous Greater Kruger area.

Their experience gained while working in the hospitality sector led them to open their own safari company in Hoedspruit, allowing them to share their great passion for nature and help travelers collect authentic, unforgettable memories.

Safaris and other activities can be booked in Afrikaans, English, or Italian to help customers live a memorable experience in their own language, allowing them to be fully involved and building real relationships. We love to exceed guests’ expectations by focusing on quality over quantity.

YOUR GUIDE: WIANN DE LANGE

As a class of 1991 FGASA nature guide level 2, Wiann is engaged in photographic safaris with customers of all nationalities, but particularly aimed at the Italian tourism market.

Your hosts: Marta & Wiann Delange

He learned Italian with the help of his wife Marta and from various working experiences in Italy, including the management of check-in & check-outs for holiday accommodation in a famous touristic town in Italy.He has more than 13 years’ experience in Big 5 Reserves and is qualified to conduct safaris by car and on foot, including walking safaris encountering the Big 5.  As a specialist in South African biomes and qualified level 3 Tracker he is qualified to identify and approach animals safely and does so with utmost respect.Passionate about ethology, he began his career in the best South African private reserves including Timbavati, Klaserie and the Kruger National Park (with which he continues to collaborate).

Since 2018 he has opened his own safari company based in Hoedspruit, where he combines his great passion for nature and the Braai culture.

MARULA VILLA

Staying at the Marula Villa will allow you to experience a great balance of comfort and wild bushveld.

The Marula Villa is comprised of a large outside garden, patio, private splash pool and boma, 2 bedrooms with private outdoor areas overlooking the bush and each room have their own private bathrooms. The Villa has a fully equipped kitchen for all needs

The bedroom upstairs has a queen size bed and a single sleeper couch. The bedroom downstairs has a king sized bed or can be divided into 2 single beds. Extra comfortable mattresses with fresh linen and bath towels are provided.

You will also benefit from air conditioning in both bedrooms. Each has a private outdoor area overlooking the bush and  their own private bathrooms.

The Villa has a fully equipped kitchen for all your self-catering needs.

Or, at an additional price, we can prepare a typical homemade meal – breakfast, lunch and/or dinner, as a braai, potjie or a typical South African dish. Venison meat is available on request, as well as typical Italian dishes. Just relax and allow the Braai Safaris team to cook for you, maybe while you enjoy sitting around the fire in the famous boma, sipping on a traditional south African wine.

This is your home away from home, where you can relax outside on the patio, watch the birds in the garden or other wildlife outside the fence.

Enjoy a refreshment by the splash pool or rest in the privacy of your room’s terrace. The views at sunrise or sunset are unrivalled and will bring different sounds from the bush and when the sky is dark, it will amaze you with its blanket of stars.

The peaceful atmosphere of the evenings will be perfect to reflect on your exciting day, and a cozy fire in the boma will keep you warm during the cooler nights.

FULL DAY KRUGER SAFARI

Enjoy this unforgettable experience inside the Kruger National Park, accompanied by an expert and highly qualified guide. On a comfortable open game viewing vehicle (4x4 safari jeep), perfect for higher visibility and to enhanced you experience, you will be taking in the beauty of nature around you.

MORNING BUSH COFFEE & WALK

2 hours walk inside Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate (Non-Big5 reserve with general game, including: giraffes, wildebeest, zebras, impala, kudu etc...), starting at first light to discover how magnificent nature can be up close and personal, experience what can be missed from a vehicle. Coffee and muffins in the bush included in the walk. (For Guests staying at Braai Safaris Lodge)

AFTERNOON WELCOME SAFARI

Meeting with guests for a welcome afternoon safari inside Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate (Non-Big5 reserve with general game, including: giraffes, wildebeest, zebras, impala, kudu etc...) Snacks & a Bottle of wine Included. (For Guests staying at Braai Safaris Lodge)

BUSH CAKE

PANORAMA ROUTE

Spectacular road trip through the famous Panorama Route to visit the best sights of the third largest Canyon in the word. (View points: 3 Rondavels, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Lisbon Falls, Berlin Falls, God’s Window) (Graskop lift excluded on request to be paid locally)

BLYDE RIVER CRUISE

Panoramic Boat Safari (Almost 2 hours) on the Blyde River Canyon (Considered as the third largest canyon in the world). Cruise on the waters of Blyde River Canyon to observe the Canyon from a unique and different perspective.

QUAD SAFARI

Adventure Safari on a Quad Bike in a Private Game Reserve, that have the privilege of a variety of animal species such as ostrich, eland, buffalo, sable, giraffes, etc.. Quads can be booked single or in couples as a passenger.

BICYCLE SAFARI WITH APERITIVE OR COFFEE
